Speeding Up and Slowing Down

It’s been a whirlwind two weeks – busy, busy, busy!

What an incredible time I’ve had! I went down to Long Island for a few days to attend my nephew’s wedding and spend some much needed time with my extended family. I snapped a picture of the bride and groom and one of my brother and his wife (the parents of the groom) and forgot to take my camera out for the next three days. My four fabulous brothers and their families, my daughter and her family and a multitude of cousins spent the evening dancing, laughing and telling wonderful stories. There is truly nothing as wonderful as family.

Saying goodbye to everyone on Sunday was difficult but, on a happy note, my brother and sister-in-law (more like a sister) came home with me for a few days. What a treat that was for me. I didn’t want them to leave and head back home to Florida, but I guess all good things must come to an end.

So, things have slowed down a bit and we’re getting back to normal. I bought myself a couple of new notebooks and pens just like I always do in September – this month always seems like a new beginning to me. There’s nothing too exciting going on in my kitchen with the current heatwave – smoothies, salads and fresh fruit and the occasional trip to Bellevale Creamery for delicious homemade ice cream.

I just received a package from UPS from Stampington & Company with 4 back issues of their magazines that were on sale for half price. They’re all filled with ideas from incredibly creative people on starting businesses, making jewelry, handbags and goodies for the home. I’m going to sit in my little courtyard and enjoy wading through these and hopefully, find some inspiration. With autumn in the air, it’s the perfect time to think about starting some new projects.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I look forward to chatting with all of you.

I do love a good smoothy ♥ Beautiful photo’s of the bride/groom mum and dad ☺ Family get togethers can be the best and always sad to say goodbye….I am off to visit a son who lives 10hrs drive away ☺

Enjoy you visit with your son, Wendy. If he lives 10 hours away, I’m sure you don’t get to see him as often as you like.
      Have a wonderful time.

Hard to believe Timmy getting married! Don & Teen look great…as always. Would absolutely love to see more pics. Always thinking about you all. Miss you. Could you please email your contact info so we can catch up.

To keep on topic I like September and am usually ready for it. But this year I felt like summer went too fast and I need more time! Even at 53 yrs old September still conjure images of back to school, new books, new clothes, crisp air. I have to stop myself from fall decorating too early every year, those are my favorite colors and sometimes I enjoy decorating for fall more than Christmas! Nah, Christmas is still the best!

That isn’t Timmy, it’s Bobby. He’s 29 though he certainly doesn’t look it. Laura, I can’t even begin to tell you how incredible it was to have us all together for a weekend – it was magical and of course, went way too fast. Amy and I are planning a trip or two back down to the island to see people and you are definitely on the list. It’s ridiculous to go so long without seeing the people you care most about. And, as for autumn, it’s my favorite too and September 1st is definitely the time to start decorating for fall! Love you and I will be in touch. xo

a delightful little ritual to start autumn.
even if the temps are still in the upper 90’s here.
    it is fall somewhere! xo
and what a beautiful family. oh my.

Sounds like a wonderful time had Susan, that’s great….I look forward to seeing what inspiration you come up with…I’ve got about 3 crochet blankets twirling around in my mind but still one on the go so must get hooking! Jan x

Hi Lynn Marie. Aren’t the Stampington publications the best? I enjoy them cover to cover and then take them out a few months later and enjoy them all over again!

What a lovely bride and handsome groom. Your brother and you sure look alike. What fun you had with all the family. Those magazines are some of my favorites, but I am limiting my supply as I am planning on downsizing next year. That is what I am doing now going through and clearing out 23 years of treasures. I must be brutal at this task, which is so hard to do. You are having hot weather and we finally are getting the much needed rain. This will help with all the fires.

When we moved, 2 1/2 years ago, I went through the same process. It was quite a daunting project but I love that I no longer have a house cluttered with “stuff.” So glad you’re finally getting the rain you need, Sharon.

Dear Susan … Such precious memories of being with family. Our past few days have been very summer like. Fall is just around the corner. I love September, as I begin to fluff and feather our little cottage for the Fall season. September Blessings ♥ Teri

September always represents a fresh start to me, even more than January sometimes. I’m sure it stems from ‘back to school’ for most of us.

I grew up on Long Island Susan, so I’m curious where you were :).

Hi Doreen – We were in Rockville Centre and the wedding was at Woodmere Country Club. My Shop was in Babylon Village. Also, you had emailed me about subscribing – there’s a box under my picture and another at the bottom of the page. Hope that helps. Wasn’t able to email you because it was sent no response.

Just today while shopping I resisted the temptation to get a new notebook and pens because I have not used up what I have at home, but I love that you got yours, Susan, and I hope you enjoy using them in the days ahead! While you did not take all the photos you hoped to, thanks for sharing some of those you did take :) That happens to me so frequently when I am enjoying the moment…I forget to take photos I intended to take. For my last post I waded through over 200 photos from my last family trip and was sad to realize all the family members I had forgotten to photograph, …but glad for the ones I did take! We have finally been getting a bit of rain and cooler weather which thankfully should continue to help dampen the wildfires, but so far I am just imagining Fall decorations and have not gotten them up yet. I am interested to know what your latest creative project is after reading your new
    magazines :) xx

Oh, I’m so glad for the rain you’re getting, Gracie to put out all the wildfires. Our temperatures here (in the 90’s) make it hard to believe it’s September but there are definitely others signs of Autumn in the air. The apples in the orchards have ripened, the evenings are shorter and the very tops of the trees are turning. Won’t be long now

What a lovely bride and groom. Sounds like a wonderful time with your family ! :)

September, because of back-to-school, always seems more like The New Year than January to me : ) While I didn’t get notebooks I couldn’t resist buying some pretty colored pencils for the grandkids the other day. Go into the dollar store for one thing, end up coming out with more…

Why do you purchase new note books each September? You have my curiosity peaked. Congrats to the newly weds! When I saw the magazines I had a good laugh. The one underneath where the woman is balanced on one leg leaning over the table and the other leg hooked to the back of the bench and taking a picture at a restaurant is absolutely priceless. I have not gone that far but I tell you I have been very tempted at times to do just that! I think it is amazing that you were enjoying yourself so much, in the moment, living it and loving it that you did not worry about pictures. For me I find that just being in that moment sometimes is more precious than worrying about the pictures. But that being said I seldom go more than one day with out taking some lol I guess you can say I have caught shutterbug flu lol… just kidding have a great weekend!

Hi Eva – I purchase a new notebook and pens in September because this time of year always felt like a new beginning for me – time to write down ideas and lists of things to do now that the cooler weather will be coming.
I got a kick out of the woman standing on the table to take a picture too. I haven’t gone quite that far yet.

That looks like a beautiful wedding. Having just returned from a weekend with extended family I heartily endorse your statement that there’s nothing like family. X

Being with family is the absolute best, isn’t it, Penny? We’re all scattered around the east coast so the opportunity to be together is priceless.

Happy times with family is always such a blessing. So happy you got so much of it.
That jewelry magazine looks amazing. Hope you’ll share your projects if you decide to try some. :-)

It looks like a wonderful time spent with family!! I had no idea you could buy back issues of Stampington magazines. They are my favorite!! I’ll have to look into that. I’ve been packing up stuff for our move and I have so many back issues that a paid full price for. Those things cost a small fortune!! Lol!! Have a beautiful week ahead. There’s a real feeling of fall in the air now. Isn’t it wonderful?!!? xo
