Out With The Old

As 2014 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the changes I’ve made in my life this year and the all the things that have brought me joy and happiness.

First on the list is having my daughter and her family move from Rhode Island to right around the block. We’re still pinching ourselves over the fact that we can grab a quick cup of coffee together anytime we want or that Bob and I have the pleasure of minding the girls now and then. It’s a dream come true.

I started my blog this year. It was something I dreamed about while I still had my shop on Long Island and I finally jumped in as summer ended. I have plans to change things up a bit in the coming year and that’s something I’m really looking forward to.

I got very into cooking and baking with local ingredients. What a pleasure it’s been to have access to locally grown/raised fruits, veggies, eggs, cheese, milk, poultry, etc.

It’s been a year of so many blessings. Now, as I savor the last few days of our beautiful Christmas tree and decorations, I’m beginning to look forward to 2015 and all the possibilities it holds.

And, I’m hoping for the best possible year ever for all of you, dear friends. Happy New Year!!!

With love,

Susan
xoxo

Having lived in Saugerties, NY, for over fifteen years, and Hurley for two and a half years, I am especially delighted that you decided to create a blog and that you visited my blog and introduced yourself to me, Susan. I have lots of good memories of my time in NY. For awhile I was part of a food co-op and loved being able to get locally produced food. I wish you and yours a most Happy New Year, and I look forward to your future posts! xx

Hi Gracie – Saugerties is about an hour northwest of us and one place I haven’t visited yet. I just love it up here – the people, the scenery and the slower pace suit me perfectly. And, I’m glad I found your blog too. I love reading about your life in the Pacific Northwest. Wishing you a happy, healthy New Year.

My sisters and mom live right around the block from me and I love the fact that we can just pop over each other’s houses in a jiffy! You must be thrilled!! Happy New Year!! :)

Susan, it’s been nice knowing you this year through your blog, and I’m looking forward to seeing what changes you plan for 2015. I guess the New Year brings that out in all of us.
I did make one change so far – I moved my blog over to wordpress.com, and am still working out a few bugs. We’ll see how that site goes.
I’ve made two trips to my local yarn shops in the past two weeks, spending gift cards, and am very excited with the 6 skeins of yarn I purchased. Now if I were a good girl, I would continue knitting some unfinished projects, but I’m awfully anxious to knit a cowl from a variegated purple skein I got.
Happy New Year to you and your family!

Thank you for your kind words, Darlene. Good luck with working out the bugs on your new blog site. It seems like our blogs are always works in progress as we work on improving them.
I definitely think you should start on a cowl with your new wool. You can always go back and finish all your works in progress. Happy New Year to you and yours.

Happy New Year to you and yours, Taci. I’m sorry you live so far from your family – are they in the U.S.? I’ve never been to Brazil, but I imagine it to be very exciting. I wish all wonderful things for you in 2015.

Happy New Year! Having your family close is surely a joy; our first granddaughter was born in June, and right now she is 14 long hours away. We definitely look forward to the day we live closer!

My daughter and her family lived several hours away for the first ten years of our twin granddaughters’ lives. It is truly a dream come true – an incredible blessing. Happy New Year to you and your family.

How wonderful to have your daughter so close :) My parents are in Northern Ireland, we have to fly or go by boat to get there, and when we do its for at least a week. I’d much prefer to be able to drop by for a quick coffee!
Happy New Year to you all!

Hi, Jill – yes, it’s been quite a blessing. I know that you’re in Scotland, but I wasn’t sure how long a trip it is for you to visit your family in Ireland. Here’s hoping you have a very Happy New Year with lots of happiness for you and your family.

Happy New Year Susan! How lovely that your daughter is now close by. I lived far from my family home for many years, and it was bliss when my mum and dad moved only a half hours drive away. Sadly my dad died 10 years ago, but mum and I still appreciate being so close by each other. X

Dear Susan … such a warm and cosy “little space” that you have here. I am not sure how I happened upon your “little space” but have enjoyed browsing your past postings. You share such sweet inspiration and I find it so heartwarming. Sweet pleasures and simple blessings for the New Year. ♥ Teri
